ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 2018-19

BEST INSTITUTION

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology was recognized as the best institution of the year 2018-19 by Karnataka and Goa Directorate under senior wing category.

The cadets from NMIT have been active in all the camps and won laurels. This year Associate NCC Officer Capt.Dr.Rajesh N was assigned with the duty of ANO in charge to lead the contingent of 106 cadets of Karnataka and Goa Directorate to the prestigious Republic Day Camp and Karnataka and Goa Directorate NCC received Prime Minister’s banner 2019.

The academic year 2018-19 has been the golden year for NMIT NCC, CSUO Shreyas S Hampole and SUO Spandana Suresh represented India in countries like Kazakhstan and Maldives through prestigious Youth Exchange Programme(YEP). CPL Vishal Yadav was adjudged as ‘The Best Cadet’ of the group ‘A’ Bangalore.

Entry into Defence Forces

NCC in NMIT has motivated many students in college to take up career in the armed forces. NMIT has also contributed young engineers as commissioned officers into the defence, their success provides sources of motivation and inspires the cadets to join the armed forces.

This year the Ex NCC cadet JUO Snighda joined Indian Naval Academy (INA) on 21st December 2018, she is the first SW to join the defence forces. SGT Rajath Thammaiah got commissioned into 110 engineering company, Bombay Engineering Group of Indian Army.

Cadet Prashant Tripathi and cadet Rajat Yadappanavar joined National Defence Academy and are undergoing training.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF CADETS

CSUO Shreyas S Hampole was the part of 12-member delegation represented NCC India at Kazakhstan through Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), his delegation started from 13th May 2018 to 26th May 2018. The contingent was hosted by Shymkent Pharmaceutical Academy at Shymkent and Taraz State University at Taraz. He visited Almaty during his stay in Khazakhstan.

CSUO Shreyas’s views about YEP

“Youth Exchange Programme provides an excellent opportunity to NCC cadets to represent our nation in different countries and it is the most prestigious thing in every cadets life. Earning a tri-colour and wearing it proudly on chest is every cadets dream. I was overwhelmed when I came to know that I stood first in entire Directorate (Karnataka and Goa) the overall journey of YEP is memorable and we were even educated about weaponry of ‘Khazakhstan Army’ and exchanged our socioeconomic and cultural realities as Ambassadors”

CSUO Shreyas sssS Hampole was nominated as the ‘BEST CADET’ from Karnataka and Goa Directorate and represented the Directorate at ‘NATIONAL LEVEL’ and he was awarded as ‘ALL INDIA SECOND BEST CADET ‘ in Senior Division Army Category.

SUO SPANDANA SURESH

SUO Spandana Suresh received Chief Minister’s Commendation on 1st February 2019.

SUO Spandana Suresh was the part of 4-member delegation represented NCC India at Maldives. Her delegation started from 3rd December 2018 to 10th December 2018. She got an opportunity to interact with cadets of youth organization of different countries like Srilanka, Nepal and Bangladesh and on 10-03-2018 she gave presentation to DG NCC at Delhi.

SUO Spandana’s views on YEP

“It was a good platform to share our rich heritage and culture with each other and we were given an opportunity to meet and interact with the President, Army officials, Cabinet Ministers and Commissioner of Police of Maldives and was a proudful moment, it was a wonderful experience with lots of memories to cherish on. I am very proud to say that I could complete the YEP and take pride in wearing the tricolor on my uniform”

JUO Bhavana represented Karnataka and Goa Dte NCC in national level Shooting competitions. She was the part of AITSC (Inter Directorate Shooting Team) 2018-19.

CSUO ASHWINI S T

CSUO Ashwini S T (1 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC) pursuing Aeronautical Engineering at NMIT, she completed All India Vayu Sainik Camp in flying in 2014, Republic Day parade in 2016 and represented India in SAARC nations meet, part of Youth Exchange Programme in 2016, Srilanka.

She says ”The word NCC invokes a sense of pride and contentment in me, the fact being that this organization made me this me what I am today. I can say with all honesty that this organization is one of the actual reasons behind all that is good in me. NCC makes a cadet responsible, organized, punctual, fearless yet compassionate and most importantly an honest Human being. I can never really thank enough for the pride I carry along having been associated with this organization and a privilege that is been to me. NCC taught me that no mountain is too high to climb and no goal is too difficult once you set your mind to achieve it, the lessons I was taught will be carried by me till I exist”

REPUBLIC DAY CAMP 2019

Republic Day Camp provides the cadets opportunity to be the part of prestigious Republic Day parade that is held at Rajpath, Delhi on 26th January every year.

This year Associate NCC Officer Capt.Dr.Rajesh N was assigned the duty of ANO incharge to lead the contingent of 106 cadets of Karnataka and Goa Directorate, this year Karnataka and Goa Directorate won the overall championship banner and stood as the CHAMPION DIRECTORATE amongst 17 other Directorates. Karnataka and Goa Directorate stood as Champion Directorate after 15 years.

REPUBLIC DAY PARADE 2018

ACTIVITIES OF 2018-19

Institutional Training : The institutional training for NCC cadets is imparted at the Institution for 120 periods per year. The training is a combination of theory and practical classes. Some of the topics covered are Weapon Training, Map Reading, Drill, Field Craft – Battle Craft, National Integration, Personality Development, Disaster Management, First Aid and Armed Forces.

COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP (CATC) at NMIT

Combined Annual Training Camp was organized at NMIT campus from 14th July to 23rd July 2018 by 1 Karnataka Signal Regiment. Camp Commandant Major Raghavendra C started the camp with his opening address. During the camp 400 NCC cadets from 37 different institutions of Bengaluru and Tumkur were trained. Trainers from NCC ,Indian Army and BSF trained the cadets in different aspects and the camp concluded with the colourful cultural evening witnessed by the advisor of NMIT Prof N R Shetty and Dr H C Nagaraj,Principal,NMIT and officers from the Directorate.

In the Combined Annual Training Camp organized at NMIT campus, NMIT NCC stood first in drill competition led by JUO Shishir Shetty.

CANDLE LIGHT MARCH

26/11 remembering the great soldiers of armed forces who got martyred on that day 2008, cadets of NMIT had the candle light march in Major Unnikrishnan road and showed their respect towards the brave souls.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE

NCC NMIT has adopted Gantiganahalli village in Yelahanka for cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. On 13th August 2018, 80 NCC cadets along with 40 villagers took part in cleaning of surrounding areas, major thrust areas focused were wastage management, stopping open defecation and urination.

On 15th August 2018, NCC cadets participated in cleanliness drive inside the college campus and on 13th February 2019, 57 cadets launched the Swachh Bharat campaign at Kumara Parvata trek trail and cleaned the trek route inside the forest.

INDEPENDENCE AND REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

NMIT NCC cadets celebrated Independence Day and Republic Day with honour and respect, The Chief Guest of Independence Day was the former Wing Commander of the Indian Airforce and Republic Day was Retd.DGP Shankar Bidari. The Chief guests were welcomed by Guard of honour followed by Rastriya salute to the national flag. The NCC cadets of NMIT expressed their patriotism in both discipline and cultural talents.

AWARENESS PROGRAMMES

NCC cadets of NMIT have launched a campaign on ‘TRAFFIC CONTROL AND ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS’ as a part of campaign NCC cadets organized street play in Devanahalli in association with Traffic Police on 14th April 2018. The street play attracted huge crowd and public appreciated the cadets.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

NCC was the proud part of blood donation camp held on 5th April 2019. Many cadets donated their blood with great will and cadets volunteered to the blood donation camp organized by Red Cross Society and BMST.

RALLY ON SURGICAL STRIKE DAY

A rally was conducted on Surgical Strike day by NCC cadets that is on 29th September ,2018. The cadets showed their immense love and patriotism towards the ‘Amar Jawan’, they prepared banners on the same and had rally in the campus.

SPORTS

NCC Cadets of NMIT received Volleyball Championship trophy from Administrative Officer Major Raghavendra C ,1 Karnataka Signal Regiment.

YOGA DAY

One month session of Yoga training was conducted in our college , 54 cadets attended massive Yoga session held on 21st June 2018 at Vidhana Soudha. The event was graced by honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka and The Health and Family Welfare Minister. It was even telecasted on televisions.

AERO INDIA

The cadets of NMIT got opportunity to visit the Air Show in Yelahanka ,Bangalore which will be held once in two years.

INTER GROUP COMPETITIONS

Three cadets from NMIT took part in the Inter Group Competitions (IGC) of Karnataka and Goa Directorate representing Bangalore ‘A’ Group in various cultural programs such as group song, group dance, Ballet and was the Master of Ceremony for National Integration Awareness Programme, Contingent drill, Guard of honour, PM’s rally and flag area.

THAL SAINIK CAMP(TSC)

JUO Charan Tej was the Team Captain of TSC-IGC Boys at Vijayapura 2018.

He was the part IGC-RDC 2017-18 Mysore and he was also a part of Prime Minister’s rally, drill and flag area briefing. He also represented the Karnataka and Goa Directorate in obstacle training Thal Sainik Camp. Cadet Shruti Khandu also took part in TSC IGC 2018 in shooting.

GOVERNER HOUSE PROGRAMME

NCC Cadet Sriranjan S was the master of ceremony at Felicitation program arranged by The Governer of Karnataka Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala for RDC-2019 contingent.
