Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) had introduced technical wing of National Cadet Corps (NCC) right from the inception of the college. NCC at NMIT comes under 1 Karnataka Signal Regiment (Technical Wing of NCC) in Bangalore ‘A’ group. The cadets are given a lot of opportunities to showcase their talent and improve their career prospects. Every NCC camp that the cadets attend not only boosts their self esteem but also moulds their personalities to shape them into future leaders of our country. As an add-on, NMIT is the first Engineering college in Karnataka to offer NCC as an elective course with credits to the students.
The cadets from NMIT have been active in all the camps and won laurels. This year two of the cadets from NMIT were chosen to represent Karnataka and Goa Directorate in the Republic Day Camp (RDC) after a rigorous selection process. Senior Under Officer (SUO) Mayank Kumar Choubey was selected to give guard of honor for Prime Minister and other VVIPs during the RDC. Sergeant (Sgt) Aman Kumar Ranjan was the commentator for the Vice President, Defence Minister, Chiefs of Army Staff, Naval Staff, Air Staff and other VVIPs during their distinguished visits to the camp on different days.
This stellar opportunity catapulted both the cadets to achieve more than that could have been imagined by other. Sgt Aman Kumar Ranjan is selected as a part of the prestigious Youth Exchange Program (YEP). The aim of YEP is a country-to-country exchange of cadets belonging to NCC/equivalent Govt/Youth Organizations of friendly countries and participation in various activities and appreciation of each other's socio-economic and cultural realities as the Indian Ambassador.
NCC in NMIT has motivated many students in the college to take-up career in the armed forces. NMIT has also contributed young engineers as commissioned officers into the Indian army, Navy and Airforce. These cadets in-turn come back to the institution to provide motivation for the budding cadets. Their success provides sources of motivation and initiative and lights a path for aspiring cadets to join the armed forces.
This year Karnataka and Goa Directorate recognized the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of technology as the Best Institution for the Year 2016-17 under Senior wing Category.
Apart from the regular Institutional training and Camp training, NCC cadets are given opportunities to organize and participate in various activities of Social Impact. Some of the major activities planned and executed by the cadets of NMIT are Blood Donation camps, Adopting a village, Campaign on Gender equality, Road Safety Awareness, Swatch Bharat, Digital Transaction awareness Program, Anti drugs campaign, Yoga Classes etc. To promote physical fitness and mental alertness and inculcating spirit of adventure every year trekking/Hiking programs are organized.

Achievements of NMIT Cadets in Camp:
Each of the directorates confers awards to their constituent institutions based on the support extended by the Institution for NCC activities and performance of the cadets and their participation in various activities. This year NMIT-NCC was the runner up for Best Institute Award in the Karnataka and Goa Directorate in the Senior Wing category.

It is with great pride that we state that our NCC Cadet Prateek Mehta of semester 5 EEE has won a silver medal in the State Level Shooting Competition (0.22 Caliber Rifle).
The institutional training for NCC cadets is imparted at the Institution for 120 periods per year. The training is a combination of theory and practical classes. Some of the topics covered are Weapon Training, Map Reading, Drill, Field Craft – Battle Craft, National Integration, Personality Development, Disaster Management, First Aid and Armed Forces.
To mark and celebrate the 2nd International Day of Yoga, National Cadet Corps(NCC) unit of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore has organized a week long yoga Training/practice sessions during June 15 – 21, 2016. Which was conducted by The Art of Living Foundation under their Yogdhaan Scheme. Volunteer from The Art of Living Foundation Ms. S Shylaja made an arrangement for yoga trainers, Ms. Komala S and Ms. Apurva P who have trained the participants on yoga.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking- 2016
NCC cadets from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore have launched an awareness program about International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the college campus and in social media on 26th June 2016. NCC cadets have designed the posters and displayed in different parts of the college. Also the posters are circulated through social medias like facebook, WhatsApp etc.

Commanding Officer, 1 KAR Signal Regt NCC Col.Bhupesh Kumar addressed the NCC cadets and distributed C Certificates for the Cadets passed in 2016.
Independence Day Celebrations
NCC cadets took the initiative to organize the Independence Day in full patriotic mood. The program consisted of not only a show of strength and discipline by the cadets, but also a cultural performance.
Guard of Honour for Chief Guest – Graduation Day
The Annual Convocation of NMIT was held on 18th August 2016. Cadets participated in the Guard of Honour to felicitate the Chief Guest. The impeccable performance of Guard of Honour was appreciated by the guests.
Personality Development Program
Administrative officer of 1 Karnataka Signal Regt NCC, Maj. Raghavendra C conducted personality development program at NMIT in September 2016 for the NCC cadets. He trained the NCC cadets on Interview skills and prepared them to face SSB Interview.
National Flower Festival at Lalbagh
Flower shows are conducted every year during the week of Republic day and Independence day, to educate people about the variety of flora and develop public interest in plant conservation and cultivation. This year’s Republic Day National Flower Festival at Lalbagh and our NCC cadets took active participation in managing the Exhibition.
Piping Ceremony by Major Raghavendra
In the month of September 2016, Administrative officer of 1 Karnataka Signal Regiment NCC visited our college and graced the Pipping ceremony. He fastened the epaulettes on the shoulders of newly promoted Senior Under Officer CSUO.Mayank Kumar Chaubey and Junior Under Officers of NMIT NCC.
Cashless Economy Awareness Campaign on International Youth Day
The youth is the driving force to bring about great changes in a society. Keeping that in mind, the NCC cadets organized the Cashless Economy Awareness Campaign on 12th January 2017. They spread awareness among the local vendors about the use and benefits of various cashless transaction apps like Bhim, Paytm, etc.
Republic Day Celebrations
The NCC cadets of NMIT tirelessly worked to make the program during National Festival a success. They expressed their patriotism in both discipline and cultural talents.
As a part of NCC adventure activity, a group of 48 cadets participated in a trek to Kodachadri and Yaana from 26nd January 2017 to 31th January 2017. The obstacles and problems faced by the cadets on the trek not only emboldened them but also added to their enjoyment.
Visit to Exhibition during Aeroshow 2017
NCC cadets from our college witnessed the aero show 2017 and visited the Exhibition.
The cadets from NMIT were eligible for C certificate and B certificate examination. Twenty eight 3rd year cadets appeared for the ‘C’ Certificate Examination held on 12th February 2017 and Twenty eight 2nd year cadets appeared for the ‘B’ Certificate Examination held on 26th February 2017 and all of these cadets passed with good grading.
Blood donation camp
The NCC along with the Rotaract and NSS organized a Blood Donation Camp and a Dental Camp in the college premises on 6th March 2017.
NCC Sports Day
On 31st March 2017 and 1st April 2017, Sports Day was held for all the NMIT NCC cadets. Principal Dr.H C Nagaraj and Administrative officer of 1 KAr Signal Regt NCC, Maj. Raghavendra C Inaugurated the Sports day. The cadets actively participated in throw ball, volleyball and mini-soccer competitions, winning various prizes in all categories.
My Country Run
Twenty NCC cadets participated in the ‘My Country Run’ organised by JGI on 8th January 2017. Cadets and NCC officer Capt.Rajesh N competed in 5Km and 10Km run.
Lecture by Police Department
A lecture was organized on Road safety, Stopping Narcotics and women safety by the ACP, Mr. Vijay Kumar and Inspector Mr. Kumaraswamy from Police department. Many questions were put forward by our NCC cadets and other students on the topic and these questions were answered by the officers.
5K Run with Obstacles and Tasks
On 2nd April Forty NCC cadets volunteered for managing the 5k run with obstacles and Tasks organized by Phoenix Projects. All the cadets completed the tasks and crossed 21 different obstacles to receive the medal.
NCC cadets of NMIT have launched a campaign on “Adolescence Substance Abuse: Awareness and Prevention”. NCC cadets have been involved in spreading the awareness through social media (Posters, Video Clips etc), lectures and street plays etc.
As a part of the campaign NCC cadets have conducted “Road safety and Substance abuse Awareness program” in Yelahanka in association with Traffic Police, Yelahanka on 19th April 2017, 9:00am-12:00Noon. NCC cadets have took up a program of social relevance to eradicate the menace which is plaguing our society.
Major. Raghavendra C, Administrative officer of 1Karnataka Signal Regt NCC flagged off the event. Capt. Rajesh Nandalike, NCC officer from NMIT, Mr. Kumaraswamy, police Inspector, Mr. Chandrashekar, Sub Inspector(Traffic), and his team were present during the program.
NCC cadets have campaigned through rally and performed street plays to educate the public on road safety and ill effects of narcotic drugs etc. The street play attracted a huge crowd and the public appreciated the cadets.
NMIT NCC CADETS Day Celebration
On 20th April 2017 cadets day was celebrated. Chief guest for the function was Maj.C.Raghavendra, Administrative officer, 1 Karnataka Signal Regiment NCC, Prof. N.R.Shetty presided over the function. Principal Dr.H.C.Nagaraj graced the occasion.

The RDC gives the cadets the precious opportunity to be a part of the prestigious Republic Day parade that is held at Rajpath, Delhi on 26 January every year. The president hosts all these elite level cadets, who have brought pride to the corners of the country that they came from, in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. State Republic Day Camp, Bangalore:
6 SD and 4 SW cadets from NMIT were selected to participate in the State Republic Day Training Camp held at Airforce Station, Jalahalli Bangalore from 11th January 2017 to 20th January 2017. These cadets participated in the state Republic Day celebrations at Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bangalore on 26th January 2017. They marched with pride in the attendance of the Chief Minister and Governor of Karnataka.
Rock climbing traing camp:
Rock climbing training camp are all India camps organized centrally where cadets from all over the country learn the basics of rock climbing and the elementary rock climbing techniques. One of our cadet , Sgt. Pragya Yadav attended rock climbing camp held at Gwallior.
Basic Leadership Camp, Mysore:
Cpl. Aman Kumar Ranjan, Cpl. Prateek Mehta and Cdt. Shubham Sharma from NMIT NCC took part in the Basic Leadership Camp held in Mysore, Karnataka in June.
Advanced Leadership Camp, Assam:
The Advanced Leadership Camp helps cadets to focus on personality development, leadership skills and orientation for induction into the Armed Forces. Sgt. Tarun Agarwal and Cpl. Savijay Bajpai was selected to participate in the Advanced Leadership Camp held in Jorhat, Assam in November, 2016.
National Integration Camp, Coorg:
National Integration Camp is conducted to make cadets understand and value the rich heritage of cultures that forge unity despite the diverse languages, traditions and religions of our country. Sgt.Kumudashree and Corporal Savijay Bajpai attended the camp held in Madikeri, Coorg in October 2016.
